The Count Returns!

Just a quick note to update everyone that The Count is home. Updates will hit the blog over the next month but needless to say the remaining trip from Fraser Island's Inskip Pt was very adventurous.

From here it's pretty well straight home....some long nights ahead.

17 - Sep

On transiting the Wide Bay Bar with the aid of Way Points provided by the Tin Can Bay Coast Guard we headed for Southport where we were to pick up another crew member for the long hauls ahead of us. The highlight being a 5 hour spinnaker run off Noosa.

18 - Sep

Close encounter with a whale breaching near us over night along with some great viewing in the morning.

19 - Sep

Departed Southport at 11:30 pm with the aim to be in Coffs Harbour before a major Southerly change.

20 - Sep

We arrive at Coffs at around 8:00pm.....40min before Southerly hits after surfing the big following swells.

21 - Sep

A day off in Coffs

22 - Sep

Depart Coffs at 5:00am with the aim of beating the next Southerly change on Friday afternoon. A terrific sail past Trial Bay shared with our friends from the deep.

23 - Sep

Arrive Port Jackson at approx 9:00am with Navy escort after record breaking overnight sail. The threatening Southerly arrives at 4:pm that afternoon.

After much tidying up and cleaning we're now ready for the new season.

What have we been up to?
 AUDI Hamilton Island Race WeekThe week came to a close with 2 days racing cancelled....one for too much breeze, one for not enough. WHAT A WEEK!
The Count showed all comers that she was the boat to beat for line honours (who cares about handicap?!). Guests aboard enjoy their time aboard and you will see many photos over the coming days (blogs).

We spent a couple of days licking our wounds and preparing The Count for a couple of days R&R around the top of the Whitsunday Group taking in Nara Inlet, Butterfly Bay and the magical Manta Ray Bay before returning to Tongue Bay, Whitehaven Beach and Hamilton Island Marina.
 From this point we fuelled up and restocked for the voyage home. Follow The Count:

Friday 16 September 25 degrees 02 min S; 153 degrees 02 min E The Count is sitting in Pelican Bay off Inskip Point at the Southern end of Fraser Island. Apologies for few updates but a mix of the Race Week Timetable and being out of internet reception have made it difficult. We have a number of really great up dates but most will come when we return. I'll post a few this evening and hopefully over the coming days. Plan to be back in Sydney by the end of next week.
